Ben Roethlisberger Suspended

Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was suspended today for 6 games, a charge led by Commish Goodell. With Ben's constant off-field issues, it makes you wonder if he is actually worth the trouble. The question now is if Owner Dan Rooney will keep Ben a part of Steeler Nation or let him go.

UPDATE:
Ben will lose $470,000 per game missed and ESPN reported that the Steelers are actively trying to deal Roethlisberger for a top ten pick in this weeks NFL draft. In addition, Ben's 6 game suspension can be reduced to 4 games for good behavior. ESPN's Adam Schefter made an interesting point, stating that none of the games that Ben will miss are nationally televised games. Coincidence? I think not.

Here are a few comments Goodell had for Roethlisberger:
"I recognize that the allegations in Georgia were disputed and that they did not result in criminal charges being filed against you. My decision today is not based on a finding that you violated Georgia law, or on a conclusion that differs from that of the local prosecutor. That said, you are held to a higher standard as an NFL player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans."

"Your conduct raises sufficient concerns that I believe effective intervention now is the best step for your personal and professional welfare."

"In your six years in the NFL, you have first thrilled and now disappointed a great many people. I urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity to get your life and career back on track."

I'm waiting for the NFLPA response to this.

You'd have to think Ben is a steal at this point in time considering he'll be out for 4 to 6 games. But is anyone willing to take the risk?
